Welcome to the personal website of Rob MacKillop, dedicated to 19th-Century Guitar Performance, with particular emphasis on the works of Fernando Sor. Here you will find videos, mp3 files, free scores and essays. I play a copy of a Panormo guitar by Simon Ambridge, with Gut & Silk strings by Aquila, plucking the strings without nails, just the flesh of the finger tips. These pages will document my attempt to perform the music of Fernando Sor with the techniques and interpretive practices outlined in his musical scores and tutors. I will also explore the Georgina Gregory manuscript from Edinburgh, c.1840. Miss Gregory was a pupil of Felix Horetski, who lived in Edinburgh for twenty years. A copy of the manuscript came into my hand a few years ago, and gives a fascinating insight into domestic music making in the fashionable New Town area of Edinburgh, at a time when visiting artists included Paganini and Chopin. I hope you enjoy listening to this music, and I look forward to reading your comments. Rob MacKillop
